Up in the Air

Yes, I know it’s been ages since I’ve posted anything new.  It’s not from lack of anything to talk about, just general laziness!

Today I saw the movie “Up in the Air” starring the deliciously handsome and charming George Clooney.  Actually, it’s the second time I’ve seen it (yes, it was so good that I decided to see it twice in the theatres).  The movie is very well-acted by George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a man who spends most of his time, well, up in the air.  Joining George are the lovely and talented Vera Farmiga as Alex, and Anna Kendrick as Natalie Keener.  As characters, Alex is beautiful and confident . . . a perfect counterpart to Clooney’s Bingham.  Natalie is young and a little . . . tightly wound.  She’s on the irrritating side, actually.  But for the story of the movie, it works.  Jason Bateman also stars as Clooney’s boss.  I would have liked to have seen a bit more of him as I thought Bateman did an excellent job!

The movie has a distinct look to it – it’s not slick and “Hollywood”, it’s real!  I think I remember reading online somewhere that during filming, Reitman used actual recently terminated people to portray some of the people that Bingham fires.  Smart move!  The employees that get told they’re fired show real emotions and were completely believable and relatable!

All in all, I definitely recommend this movie to George Clooney fans, fans of dramedies, and anyone who isn’t looking for a typical romantic-comedy!
